Community guidelines
Effective 2 September 2026. These are the rules everyone playing Wild Relic agrees to, and what we moderate against. They sit alongside the terms of service.
Be truthful about where you are
A find only means something because somebody really walked there. Faking your location empties the game of the one thing it is for.
- Do not spoof your GPS, and do not use anything that moves your position for you.
- Do not automate play or share an account to cover more ground.
- If you find a way to claim something you did not walk to, tell us rather than working it.
Accounts that fake location lose rewards. Deliberate or repeated cases are suspended or closed.
Do not place anything on private land, or anywhere dangerous
Anything you leave in the world sends a real person to a real place, and they will be looking at a phone when they arrive.
- Place only where the public may walk. Not gardens, not farmland, not yards, nothing behind a fence or a gate.
- Never on or beside a road, a railway, a level crossing, a cliff, open water, or a building site.
- Nothing on the grounds of a school, a hospital, a place of worship or a memorial.
- If reaching your own placement would mean climbing, wading or trespassing, it is in the wrong place.
Be decent to other explorers
Wild Relic carries what other players write and leave behind: explorer names, notes, and the things they place. All of it is held to this.
- No harassment, no threats, and no hate directed at anyone or any group.
- No following, filming or confronting another player because of the game. Meeting people at a landmark is part of it. Pursuing them is not.
- Do not impersonate another player, a moderator, or us.
- Do not post anyone's personal details, including where they live, work, or were last seen playing.
- You can block any player from their profile. Blocking is immediate and does not need us.
Report hazards
We place treasures with safety rules and still get it wrong sometimes, because the ground changes and the map does not.
- If a treasure sits somewhere unsafe, unreachable or private, report the spot in the app. Do not approach it first.
- Report names, content and placements that break these guidelines. Reports go to the moderation queue with what we need to act on them.
- Reporting in good faith never counts against you. Reporting in bad faith, to bury a rival or clear a spot for yourself, does.
- If somebody is in danger, call the emergency services. We are not one, and we cannot reach you on the ground.
What happens when these are broken
Depending on what happened and whether it has happened before: content removed, rewards taken back, the account suspended, or the account closed. Moderation decisions keep an audit trail, and you can ask us about a decision on your account.
Changes
If these guidelines change, the new version appears here with a new effective date, and meaningful changes are flagged in the app. The terms of service and the privacy policy cover the rest.
Questions about any of this, or about a decision on your account: support.
